We are in the process of setting up our family blogs. This blog will be used for the Edwin and Leila Shipp children as their "Home Port." Other individual blogs can be linked in here.

The name of the "template" used as the background for this blog is "Harbor." I thought it was appropriate!

Dear Shipp Brothers and Sisters,

Welcome!

This is the first post in the new Shipp Home Port blog (hosted by Blogger, which is owned by Google).
This blog is intended for the sons and daughters of Edwin and Leila Shipp. Other blogs (I believe) can be linked from this one to the younger Shipp generations (as Amy Shipp's blog, for instance).

The purpose of a blog is to post information, notices, photographs, items of interest, and other material that then resides in the blog and can be viewed by those who visit the blog. (At this point, I don't know if the posts can be made "private" to any degree, but with a little looking around, we will see if they can be.)

Blog posts are also archived, so they can be returned to at any time.

Another feature of a blog is that people can add "comments" to a post, which would include their name so who is making the comment is identified. (On the blog, I'm going to be RCS.)

You will notice when composing a post that you can choose the font, bold or italicize text, change the text color, justify the text (left, right, center, full), automatically number or bullet lists, move text into a "block quote," add an image, or even add video! If you move your mouse over one of the items of the menu bar (when composing a post) a pop-up explanation of the icon will appear.

There are a lot of fun things to learn about blogging, so we have raised anchor, launched the Shipp, and are setting sail.

Charlie is going to set up a blog for our Shipp Family Reunions, which this blog can then link to. He can keep us posted of his progress here.

That's it for the first post. Best Wishes to All!
